NYC is by far the busiest place I have ever been to, but it is this mixture of tourists and locals, and the wide variety of cultures that makes it so interesting. Times Square is so full of life, and every single time I went there was something different going on. The shops there are amazing: Toy R Us has its own ferris wheel, which gives you an idea of just how big it is!
This trip was, in a way, very Gossip Girl themed; we stayed in the Empire Hotel, which was owned by Chuck Bass on the show, we visited Dylan's Candy Bar and had afternoon tea at The Plaza hotel- all in the name of Blair Waldorf.
Here's a tip: if you decide to have afternoon tea the The Plaza with a friend, choose a classic afternoon tea and an Eloise afternoon tea. Although the Eloise is meant to be for children anyone can order it, and it includes a selection of tiny cupcakes and pink cotton candy (oh, and it's actually cheaper than the classic!)
Central Park is my favourite part of New York; I found it very peaceful and so beautiful. We went on a rowing boat around the lake, which I highly recommend, and we visited really famous spots such as Strawberry Fields and the carrousel.
We were also lucky enough to coincide with the Central Park film festival, so we took a picnic and went to an outdoor cinema one night to watch The Blues Brothers- it was so much fun and so unique!
One of the must-do things in New York is to visit the top of a skyscraper to get an overall view of the city: I was able go to the top of the Rockefeller Centre and the Empire State Building. Having been to both I can now say that the Top of the Rock gives you a much better and clearer view of the city, so if you only want to visit one building, go for that one.
However, I visited the Rockefeller during the day and the Empire on a night, which gave me two very different perspectives and experiences. Seeing New York at night is something that I will never forget.
Here's a short video I made of my trip. I hope you enjoy it!
What is your favourite thing about New York?
